Najeon Mother-of-Pearl Round Carved-Edge Folding Low Table - Lotus

A Round Table That Folds Away

Najeon is the Korean craft of mother-of-pearl inlay on lacquer. This soban (Korean low table) has a round top covered in mother-of-pearl lotus flowers, a carved edge in place of a plain circle, and legs that fold flat. Fold it away against a wall when you're not using it, then open it up for tea or a meal on the floor.

Two sizes

It comes in 43 cm (16.9 in) and 51 cm (20.1 in) across. The table settings below are all on the 51 cm size, which holds a meal for one or tea and snacks for two.

Folds flat for storage

With the legs folded, it lies flat, so it stands neatly against a wall or beside a cabinet.

One pattern, five colors

Gold, black, blue, red and mint grounds, all with the same lotus pattern. The shell glows brightest on dark grounds and blends softly into gold.

Mother-of-pearl is the iridescent inner layer of abalone and other shells, cut thin. Its color shifts as the light moves.

Made to order

We start making your table once you order. It ships in about 2 weeks.

Before it arrives

Mother-of-pearl comes from abalone and other shells, so every piece has its own grain and shimmer. The pattern and color of your piece may differ slightly from the photos. This is a natural trait of the material, not a defect.

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Dry spills right away and use a trivet under hot dishes. Direct sunlight and heaters can fade or crack the lacquer. Avoid abrasive and alcohol-based cleaners.
